Whatever the occasion, a lovingly wrapped gift will almost always make the eyes of young and old light up. Wrapping gifts is not only practical to protect the contents from damage, but also adds a unique touch to any occasion. With a few simple tips and tricks, gift wrapping becomes a fun highlight and as a reward, the person receiving the gift will have joy written all over their face. The best part? You don't need a lot of expensive material or a lot of wrapping experience to create high-quality gift wrapping.
Step-by-step: Wrapping gifts the right way
Would you like to wrap your rectangular gift simply and neatly to make a good impression? With our simple gift-wrapping guide, even beginners can do it! All you need is wrapping paper, scissors, some tape (or glue) and optionally a ruler.
Step-by-step instructions:
- The first step is to measure the wrapping paper. The paper should protrude about 5–8 cm on each side of the gift.
- Place the gift in the middle of the wrapping paper.
- Wrap the paper over the gift and fold it over at the sides accordingly.
- Fold the edges and secure them with adhesive tape.
- Wrap the ends, fold them and fold them inwards.
- Done!

Creative ideas: Wrap gifts originally and beautifully
Who said that wrapping paper always has to be boring? Here are some creative ways to wrap gifts in an original way:
- Combine newsprint with our high-quality tissue paper for a modern, sustainable look.
- Disguise gifts as something else: perhaps it could be fun to disguise the gift (e.g. a small parcel) as something else, such as a sweet roll?
- Fabric instead of paper: Use cloth napkins as wrapping paper — this makes the gift doubly useful.
- Add a personal message or decoration: A personal message via greeting card or decorative accents such as dried flowers can make all the difference.
Sustainable and without tape: environmentally friendly packaging
Never use plastic or tape again — wrapping gifts without tape is easier than you think and is also sustainable:
Our tips:
- Glue stick: Instead of using Sellotape or adhesive tape, use the classic UHU glue: environmentally friendly and easy to use.
- Cords & natural materials: Jute ribbon, twigs or dried flowers replace plastic decorations and add a natural touch.
- Furoshiki: This Japanese technique uses cloth to tie knots.

Wrapping different shapes
Not every gift is rectangular — here are our tips on different shapes:
- Round gifts: Wrap it like a sweet — simply twist the sides together and secure with ribbons. Use fabric or flexible paper to maintain the shape.
- Heavy gifts: Use sturdy filling material to prevent the contents from slipping or being damaged. Choose tear-resistant paper for this or combine it with cardboard.
- Bulky gifts: Not every gift needs wrapping. Sometimes a paper bag is the better choice!
- Bottle gifts: If you want to give a bottle as a gift, bottle packaging is the best option.
